Trauma

Intergenerational trauma refers to the transmission of traumatic experiences and their physical, psychological, and emotional effects across generations. It occurs when individuals or communities experience trauma,

such as violence, persecution, or displacement, and the impact of that trauma is carried forward to subsequent generations.

The effects of intergenerational trauma can manifest in different ways, including altered behavior, mental health issues, relational difficulties, and even metabolic and tissue changes.

The transmission of trauma can occur through multiple channels, such as family dynamics, cultural practices, and social environments. It is often associated with events such as war, genocide, colonization, or other forms of systemic violence.

The concept of intergenerational trauma emphasizes that the consequences of trauma can extend beyond the individuals who directly experienced the traumatic events, affecting the physical well-being and mental health of their descendants.

About The Work

Healing generational trauma is a structured process with defined steps and procedures.  The methods are grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as Ancestral Lineage Healing (ALH).  My approach is deeply influenced by my 22 years as an acupuncturist and practitioner of Oriental Medicine, as well as my 40-year background in dramatic arts.

Sessions are typically one hour long and are conducted on Zoom.  Clients tend to meet with me weekly or biweekly, though some folks find that monthly works best.  Pacing is up to the client, and we usually end sessions by deciding when the next meeting will be.
